I receive calls from home buyers every week asking me if they can buy a desert area mobile home, as a second home or investment and then rent it out when they are not using it.
If you own the land, most of the desert area mobile home parks will allow you to rent your home or condo to others when you are not using . Most allow long-term rentals, with minimums of 1 month to 3 months for vacation rentals. You will need to check the CC&Rs or Rules and Regulations for specific restrictions.
If your home or condo is on space rent or leased land, renting is not allowed in the majority of the mobile home park communities.
I’m also asked if you are required to rent your mobile home through the park office or if you can rent it on your own. In the majority of communities, where rentals are allowed, you are not required to rent it through the park.
