Have you ever noticed how people often look like their dogs? Well, here’s a house that looks like a person! Although it kind of also looks like a dog, too. A very cute and friendly dog. As a real estate agent, that’s what I call curb appeal. This photo was taken in one of our many desert area mobile home communities.
If you’re a fan, like me, of Brain Games, the National Geographic Channel TV series, then you already know that our brains are hardwired to see patterns and faces in everything, no matter how inanimate. Who of us hasn’t looked at a cloud and seen a face?
The TV program debuted in 2011, but I didn’t discover it until this year. Through the use of interactive, on-screen games, experiments and tests, you soon realize that your brain is not all that accurate or reliable. After watching Brain Games you will never look at anything, or see anything, the same way again.
The one thing all buyers seem to see the same way, however, is good curb appeal. Your home either has it or it doesn’t and it’s the first thing buyers notice. (I’ve taken many home buyers to see a home but as soon as we pull up in front of the home they say, just keep driving. Even though it had everything they were looking for in a home, the curb appeal turned them off.)
Homes that have nicely landscaped and well kept yards, inviting entry ways and no obvious or visible defects have the best chance of attracting buyers and selling fast and for top dollar. Please contact me if you would like to know what your home is currently worth and how to improve your curb appeal.
